Limones service day

Occasionally on Fridays we go we a sister from Australia to an area outside of puerto armuelles called limones, really close to Costa Rica to do service. Lots of indigenous people called the Ngöbe. It's a beautiful area right on the beach.

This was one of Kate's studies daughter she was playing with her little pig.

This is Kate's version of petting the pig

Kate's study in the traditional Ngöbe dress with her 2 kids and niece, she was about 18. They have kids so young here. She barely had any schooling growing up but is very smart. Her mother taught her to read and write which is a big deal since most of the young girls don't get that opportunity to learn.

She had a beautiful smile but wouldn't show it to the camera!

Another studies house, we got caught sitting outside in a huge rainstorm.

We would have stayed under cover till it passed but the roads were beginning to flood and we had to get our motor bike before it got washed away!

Kate from Australia on the limones beach

Had to use my Spanish here,it was a bit rough but we got through it.

It's always fun out in limones, the people are so kind and some of the most humble people you will ever meet are out in this territory. Really wonderful studies :)

Kingdom Hall building Las Tablas

Back in September Colin and I got to help out on a Kingdom Hall build for a couple of days in changuinola on the Caribbean side of panama. It was a little town outside of changuinola called Las Tablas. We were asked to come help with their version of dry wall.
We got to work with brothers and sisters from all over panama both foreigners and locals. It was so fun trying out another type of service together :)

This was the bodega, or the stores for all the tools, kept in the back of a big truck. there are two groups that tour around panama to different hall builds.

Colin's first day consisted of pulling stumps using a shovel and a pick, he wasnt posing here at all haha.

We weren't sweating, we were glowing with happiness is all :)

Hard work in the hot sun!

The sisters in the kitchen making fried chicken

More stump pulling!

Working with my new friend Mai, serving here in changuinola Spanish all the way from Denmark!

Really nice couple from Newfoundland serving in the mountains, volcan, English

Tom and Colin having fun!

Vanessa from volcan, English

Another young couple serving in boquete, panama also in the mountains they are from the states originally. So awesome to meet other young couples with the same goals :)

My friend Michelle from Colorado, lots of fun! Came down with another sister to help volcan English

Finally no more stump pulling!

Colin attempting at engineering, he had to keep the outlets from moving, attaching them to the beams some how before putting the sheet rock on.

This is joe hiding from the paparazzi:) he is the one who organized for all us foreigners to come help, he has been helping with Mexico and Central America hall builds for a long time now.

So hot for us Canadians!!

This was the town we had to go through to get to the hall build called almirhantes. No garbage pick up so this is what it looks like everywhere! So sad!! Lots more diseases on this side of panama.

Why did the bananas cross the road?? Haha
This is how Chiquita banana transports the bananas. Using a horse and pully system

Our little crew:)

This is the Kingdom Hall in changuinola, they are finally getting a new one in a nicer location!!

Thats it for this little adventure!!
